Manahil Bandukwalais a writer, visual artist, and editor.
Manahil was born and raised in Karachi and is currently a settler on unceded Algonquin and Anishinaabe territory (Ottawa). She holds a BA in English from Carleton University and an MA in English at the University of Waterloo. Her 2024 poetry collection Heliotropia was the winner of the Archibald Lampman Award for Poetry, and a finalist for the Ottawa Book Award, the Pat Lowther Award, and the Raymond Souster Award. In 2024, Manahil was a finalist for the Salam Award for Imaginative Fiction for "The Shopkeeper's Remedy." In 2023, she was selected as a Writer’s Trust of Canada Rising Star by Shani Mootoo. She is currently Managing Editor at Brick Books, and on the board of Canthius. |
